Webquest: Instructions, links & prompts

As a group, look at this cartoon, and make inferences about what you think it is trying to say, put these inferences on the slide in your powerpoint. For each section of the webquest that you complete, there should be something reflected in your powerpoint. You will create a title for each slide that is related to the section you are working on.

Before starting work on the webquest, create a google slides with your group.  The first slide should include the names of everyone in your group and a title that you find appropriate for the lesson.

Your second slide should be titled, "CARTOON".

SMALL TITLE

The objective of this section is to get you to analyze a small article and to discover two of the big ideas that it is trying to convey.

  • Read this article

  • Write a paragraph on your slide for this section that summarizes two of the main points of this article and explain why you think that they are important overall.

IMPORTANT NOTE!!!

REMEMBER TO KEEP ADDING YOUR WORK TO YOUR GROUP POWERPOINT.  THE INFORMATION THAT YOU PROVIDE IN THE POWERPOINT IS HOW YOU ARE GOING TO BE GRADED FOR THE WEBQUEST.

It is important for your groups to understand what President Wilson is calling for in his points, so in groups, you are going to make a video summarazing at least three of the points.

The focus of this webquest is providing you with the tools necessary to be able to analyze President Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen Points Speech.  In order to do that, you need to read the Fourteen Points, which can be found here

-After you read the points, analyze the source itself and give some examples about what the source helps to tell us about the society in which these points were delivered.

Please also read this, which is the full speech he delivered. What does the introduction of his speech to the points add?

To get some more information or just a different method of explanation, watch the video below to the left.  It is a helpful video because it will remind you of the context of the speech and its points and provides explanations for the points.  Please provide a slide including four facts from the video.

Since you are now more familar with Wilson's Fourteen Point Speech, it is time to revist the cartoon that you assessed in the first step of this webquest.  You need to again, write about what you think the cartoon is saying.  You can access the cartoon, here.

Your video needs to be at least 1 minute and no more than 5 minutes.

It must include the following:

-A brief introduction to what was happening at this time in history

-Descriptions of at least three points you choose, they should be described in a way that makes them understandable for people who are unfamiliar with the war and its diplomacy

-Your group's reasons as to why Wilson's Fourteen Points speech was an important artifact of the peacemaking following WWI

*You can use resources like imovie, Educreation, or Lego Movie Maker in order to make your video.  Whichever one you choose, make sure that you are able to add your video into your presentation as this is how it will be graded!

You may now move on to the group presentation activity!
